Welcome to GRANITE Alaskan Malamutes, located in western New York State, USA. This is currently a small kennel, which enables me to focus on each dog individually. My name is Laura, I am a member of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America, for which I am the chair of both the Performance Awards and Statistics Committee and the Agility trial Committee. As part of my duties responsibilities I act as AKC trial chair for at least one agility trial for AMCA each year. I am also a member of the Border Collie Society of America, and am on the board of my local AKC -affiliated All Breed Obedience Training Club.
Granite Malamutes are active in showing in the breed ring, Rally obedience, and agility- plus pursuing Malamute-geared activities such as sledding, packing and weight pull. These are very versatile dogs when properly trained. Click the links above for more information about our own dogs, as well as other Malamutes. I will be updating this site with new pictures and information on a regular basis, so please keep checking back with us!
The intention of Granite Kennels, as keepers and trainers of this wonderful breed is to work, love, exhibit, enjoy, and produce beautiful, even-tempered, healthy and correct Malamutes, sound of mind and body, who are capable of work, play, competition and companionship. It's a tall order and one we take very seriously -but with great mentors and knowledgable friends to help and advise, along with years of experience working with and studying animals, we will always try our best.
"The Malamute is too fine and distinguished a breed to be changed into anything but what centuries of adaptability to its environment has produced. Our efforts should be to breed not only beautiful Malamutes, but as good specimens physically as were originally found in Alaska. It isn't a question of breeding a better Malamute, but as good an Alaskan Malamute."--Natalie Norris, Charter Member of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America
